Matthew 4:5-7 (HCSB)
5 Then the Devil took Him to the holy city, had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
He will give His angels orders concerning you,
and they will support you with their hands
so that you will not strike
your foot against a stone.”
7 Jesus told him, “It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God.”

I have had those kinds of people in my life—the bullies, taunters, gaslighters—and here we see the master manipulator, and Jesus just won’t play the enemy’s game. The account of Jesus’ temptation reveals powerful lessons on resisting pride, trusting God's will over miraculous signs, and welding scripture with truth. Trust God's way, not your own. Like the Israelites testing God during hardship, as if it’s His fault. We are tempted to doubt God's care. Jesus trusted God's plan, which included suffering, prioritizing God's timing over immediate glory. The Cross demonstrates God's love and offers assurance against the temptation to test Him. I am guilty of taking this relationship for granted and know I could save a lot of heartache if I would just stay out of my own way and trust God.
