Jesus Came to Fulfill the Father’s Plan of Salvation
Matthew 3:13-15  (HCSB)
The Baptism of Jesus

13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be baptized by him. 14 But John tried to stop Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and yet You come to me?”
15 Jesus answered him, “Allow it for now, because this is the way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him to be baptized.

My very first job was at McDonald’s making biscuits. I would arrive at 4am and make them from scratch. To this day I remember the trainer going over each detail of the process. I thought I would never master the craft as I watched her turn out the perfect round, fluffy creation of yum. I, like John, didn’t feel good enough to carry out the job. I also didn’t feel good enough to get baptized. I was saved 2 years before making that choice of obedience. I made it a lot harder on myself and needed greater understanding. John's reaction is understandable, as baptism was associated with repentance from sin, and Jesus was sinless. His protest demonstrates his humility and respect for Jesus. Jesus' response highlights a deeper meaning. By being baptized, Jesus was not seeking forgiveness but identifying with humanity. This act was the beginning of his mission of perfect obedience to God's requirements, which would ultimately lead to his sacrifice for humanity's sin. It’s in the little things that big things are achieved.
