1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (HCSB)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not conceited, 5 does not act improperly, is not selfish, is not provoked, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Tim Kirkup
These verses give a summary in simpler terms what is meant by biblical love. As I read this, I keep hearing the words in my head saying you must die to self. And I see the perfect image of Jesus love that was shown by His sacrifice on the cross. Jesus showed us the perfect act of love and its true definition. First Corinthians 13:4-7 lets us know that with Jesus we can love without fear. We can do this, not because of the person we are supposed to love, but because of the God who first loved us.
