Deuteronomy 28:15-19  (HCSB)
Curses for Disobedience
15 “But if you do not obey the Lord your God by carefully following all His commands and statutes I am giving you today, all these curses will come and overtake you: 16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country. 17 Your basket and kneading bowl will be cursed. 18 Your descendants will be cursed, and your land’s produce, the young of your herds, and the newborn of your flocks. 19 You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.

The word IF is mentioned 5x in the first 19 verses. IF they would follow His suggestions (er’ I mean commandments) they would be blessed. IF they did not, the promise of judgement and curses was just as true as the promises of blessings. We have so many leaders/teachers/pastors/TV evangelist today who totally leave out half of the message of the Word of God. God’s expectations of living a holy and set apart life from the world are as relevant today as in Moses’ day. “Be ye holy, for I am holy”. “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God”. Are we coming to God’s house each week to allow God to purify our lives and make us more like Him or just for the blessings and the “feel goods”? It would be foolish to go to the doctor for the good music playing, friendliness of the staff, or free coffee, and leave before dealing with the cancer in your life.
