QUESTIONS OF THE WEEK

  1.  Israel did not do a complete job of driving out the Promised Land inhabitants. In Numbers 33:55-56, God told them that would be a problem. In what way did this affect Israel then? How is it still affecting them today? If they had completely obeyed, what would be different then/now?
  2. We don’t live under the same societal structure that Israel did in the Old Testament. God provided for both justice and mercy in the Cities of Refuge. How so? What are some modern parallels with our judicial system? Where is our system failing and why? Where does it succeed?
  3. In Numbers 35, “intent” is an important aspect of the Cities of Refuge. How do we often judge intent in others? Where/when do we fail to judge well? With others, do you lean towards mercy or justice more? Why? God is the Perfect Judge. Why does this give you hope?
