Mark 13:28-31 (HCSB)
28 "Learn this parable from the fig tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. 29 In the same way, when you see these things happening, know that He is near-at the door! 30 I assure you: This generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
Sarah Ricciardi
Okay, remember, we won’t let the freaky descriptions blur our focus on God’s Truth. What is God always about? Making Himself known! So what characteristics of God do we see in this passage? The Son of Man is near (verse 29) He is expectant. Those times when my personal sorrow just spills out in gushes, I picture Jesus standing, ready to jump down and wipe all our sorrow away. Why doesn’t He just do that right now? It’s God’s grace that keeps Him waiting—His grace that wants more people to know Him. God’s Words will never pass away (verse 30). That temple may topple, but God’s Word remains steadfast and firm. What He says is TRUE. His Word cannot be changed, altered, modified, codified, politically correct-ified. Amen! Thank you Jesus! Pass the chicken! THAT should fill my cup up for a hot minute!
