Sunday Connect Lesson for May 28, 2023
Signs of the Times
Peter likely wrote this second letter to believers scattered throughout Asia Minor sometime between AD 64-67. He probably wrote it from Rome not long before he was martyred.
Study The Word: Peter taught about the return of Christ, warning that scoffers will mistakenly point to God's patience as proof that He does not exist.
Key Truth: Christ will return as promised (2 Peter 3:1-10). God is patient before bringing judgment because He loves us so much. We should not allow the doubts of scoffers to shake our confidence in God.
Key Truth: Believers grow in faith and godliness while watching for Christ's return (2 Peter 3:11-18). We are not idle observers in this world. God has encouraged us to be diligent about spiritual growth. We want others to see our patience and godliness so they can come to know our Savior before it is too late. We want to make the most of our opportunities to share Jesus with those around us.
Family Connection: Continue the discussion after church! How does the promise of Christ's return give us hope? How should knowing Christ will return affect the way believers live? How do we grow in our knowledge of Christ and in godly living?
