Sunday Connect Lesson for March 5, 2023
HOLY LIKE HIM
Peter likely wrote this first letter to Christians scattered throughout Asia Minor around AD 62-63.
Study the Word: Through the work of Jesus Christ believers have received the incorruptible gift of salvation. While the gift is marvelous and free, holiness is an expected part of a believer's life as he or she grows in a relationship with the Father.
Key Truth: Believers are joyful in every circumstance because of God's promises (1 Peter 1:3-12). Though we may face suffering, we have an indestructible inheritance and a living hope. The trials we endure test the authenticity of our faith.
Key Truth: Believers display holiness, reverence, and love while awaiting Christ's return (1 Peter 1:13-25). God always has intended for His people to be holy. We are bought with the precious blood of Christ and set apart to display God's love and grace.
Family Connection: Continue the discussion after church!
What does it mean that God is holy and why should that make us want to be holy? What is holiness? (Thinking and living the right way according to God’s standards.) What are some things the world uses to try to get us to turn away from God’s holiness?
