Ephesians 6:18-20 (HCSB)
18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. 20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough in Him to speak as I should.

Do you know your role? When I started saving for retirement, I found myself regularly checking the stocks, which resulted in nervousness as the ebbs and flows were frequent. Talking one day with a friend about this, he told me my problem was checking too often. Your role is not to check, but to trust the system and let it take its course. Often times we mistake our role as the battle-hardened warrior who wins the fight. Yet apart from the vine, the branches can do nothing. We are referenced as “an ambassador in chains.” In other words, we are subjects of God fully reliant upon Him. God supplies and we are to trust. Our main role here, highlighted by repetition, is prayer. The call to the Lord’s army is to stand firm and pray! Our greatest role and weapon is prayer. For in prayer, you are connecting with and calling out to our main help...God! A wicked generation asks for a sign. But the only sign needed is that of Jonah. Jesus is alive! He is all we need! For God meets all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus! Apart from the vine we can do nothing, but in Him we can do all things!
