1Thessalonians 5:16-18 (HCSB)
16 Rejoice always! 17 Pray constantly. 18 Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Susan Jones
These verses work together well because in order to be able to rejoice always, I must pray constantly and be thankful for everything that comes my way. Do I always have an easy time doing these three things? Well, no. I have had, do have, and will have circumstances in my life that don’t immediately give me cause to rejoice. But as I work through those things and spend much time in prayer and remember all of the other blessings I have received, I am always able to find a way to rejoice in them. The main way I can rejoice in difficulties is remembering that I can trust God totally! As I have grown in my faith walk (i.e., gotten older...lol) I have seen God bring good, or at a minimum peace, from all things I have faced. So, keep praying (and don’t forget to include prayers for those opportunities to share the Gospel we talked about yesterday) and count your blessings and then you can rejoice...even when it’s difficult.
