Sunday Connect Lesson for January 15, 2023
Paul likely wrote his letter to the believers at Colossae around AD 61-62 while he was under house arrest in Rome. He continued teaching believers to obey all of Christ's teachings.
Study the Word: Jesus Christ makes a difference in every part of your life. Because of him, you are dead to your sins, buried with Him in baptism, freed from your sinful past, and raised with Him to conduct your life differently.
Key Truth: Believers keep growing in faith, trust in Christ alone and rejecting false teaching (Colossians 2:6-15). Trusting Christ is not a one-time event, but a lifelong process as we grow to spiritual maturity.
Key Truth: Believers grow in Christ and reject manmade philosophies and regulations (Colossians 2:16-23). Human philosophies and traditions are not the way to please God. We have freedom in Christ.
Family Connection: Continue the discussion after church! What does it mean that those who don't know Christ are dead in sin? Why does spiritual life come only through faith in Christ and not be doing good work? What will you do this week to help you keep growing in your faith?
