I am sure, just like you, I have scrolled through social media and thought, “there is no way I would have ever posted that for all to see.” Most of the time I scroll on, but sometimes I stop and think about how social media can sometimes encourage behaviors that go against the message of putting off the “worldly nature” and living in alignment with God’s will. I think about how people are hiding behind their keyboards typing whatever comes to mind with no regard of the hurt or consequences it could bring. People have forgotten that everything that comes to mind does not have to be said. These few verses serve as a great checkpoint for how we engage with the digital world. Are we being led by God’s values, or are we getting caught up in worldly temptations? Social media can either be a tool for good or a stumbling block. It is up to us to use it with discernment.
