Colossians 3:1-4 (HCSB)
The Life of the New Man

3 So if you have been raised with the Messiah, seek what is above, where the Messiah is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. 4 When the Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Did you know Google was invented in 1998 and the first social media platform was invented in 1997 and I am older than BOTH?! I remember in high school the first time we were encouraged to use Google because it was a faster, easier search engine to use. I remember thinking how cool Google was. I could quickly search any topic and find a plethora of information instead of spending hours in a library. It would be many years later before I would have any type of social media. But I can remember the first few years on Facebook being nothing compared to what it is now. Today, people are caught up in the ever-changing nature of social media, where everything feels fleeting. I am reminded that this passage reminds us to live with a deeper purpose -something rooted in Christ, who “is your life.” Our identity, joy and sense of worth should be anchored in our relationship with God rather than how we are perceived in the digital world. We should “set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth.”
