Matthew 9:27-34 (HCSB)
Healing the Blind
27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” 28 When He entered the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they answered Him. 29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “Let it be done for you according to your faith!” 30 And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus warned them sternly, “Be sure that no one finds out!” 31 But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout that whole area.
Driving Out a Demon
32 Just as they were going out, a demon-possessed man who was unable to speak was brought to Him. 33 When the demon had been driven out, the man spoke. And the crowds were amazed, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons!”

According to the jewishencyclopedia.com… The ancient nations regarded blindness as the lowest degradation that could be inflicted upon man; hence gouging out the eyes of an enemy was a form of national retaliation. The Philistines bored out the eyes of Samson, and the king of Babylon blinded Zedekiah. These two men were outcasts and again we see Jesus’ compassion as He touches their eyes and restores their sight.
Did you notice that these two could not be quiet about what Jesus had done in their life? That makes me wonder why so many Christians are reluctant to share their story? If Jesus has healed you from the worst disease of all… death… then shouldn’t you tell everyone about it? Maybe we have forgotten just how bad it was to be spiritually blind. Praise Him today for restoring your sight and then tell someone else your story.
