Psalm 46:8-11 (HCSB)
8 Come, see the works of the Lord, who brings devastation on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease throughout the earth. He shatters bows and cuts spears to pieces; He burns up the chariots. 10 “Stop your fighting—and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.” 11 Yahweh of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah

As I read through this Psalm it strikes me that the writer notes that “Jerusalem the city will not be toppled”. That seems eerie as we know that Israel is at war with Hamas. The city of peace has found itself very turbulent for hundreds of years. Several times the city of Jerusalem has been occupied by foreign nations because the people of God were not following Him. Even in Jesus’ day we know that the Romans were in charge of Jerusalem. BUT there is also a hint of restoration here because there is coming a day when God will “stop the fighting” so that all will know that He is God. Today I’m unsure of what we will be reading about Jerusalem on Jan 4, 2024 but I am sure that God will one day “make wars cease throughout the earth” and that He alone will be “exalted among the nations”. We can praise Him in our current situation because we know that He will make Jerusalem be the epicenter of Peace because Jesus will reign supreme. HE is our Prince of Peace!! Shalom Y’all.
