Galatians 5:19-21 (HCSB)
19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, moral impurity, promiscuity, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I tell you about these things in advance—as I told you before—that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Garnett Cothern
Many things in life are obvious, i.e.–life and death, blind and with sight, well and sick, etc. Paul says a sinful nature is also obvious. Using Scripture as our sounding board, that should be obvious in 2022! Is it? Let’s look at ourselves. Can we/do we hold a stance of awareness, as individuals about us live out their lives? Paul gives what I would suggest is a “short-list” of things within a sinful nature. We certainlyneed to adhere to Paul’s admonition, his warning, thereby standing strong. Relative to “today’s distinctions” and lack of accountability, necessitates our adhering to God’s distinction of obvious, as Paul outlines. May we, you and I, stand strong as to “God’s obvious”, adhering to the positive and opposing the negative, as defined by Scripture.
