Questions for the Week

1. There are 9 questions in Numbers 22 –see vss. 9, 28, 30, 32, 37, and 38. Balaam asks only 1 of those questions –all the others are asked OF Balaam. What are the questions from God
(vs. 9), the donkey (vss. 28, 30), and the Angel of the Lord (vs. 32) really trying to ask him? How do they differ from the 3 questions that Balak asks (vs. 37)?

2. Balaam is kind of like a politician –he is willing to play the “God” card when it suits his agenda. In Numbers 23, we see Balaam doing this in 3 oracles. How was he trying to use God to his advantage? How do we do that very same thing in our lives? WHY do we do that?

3. Interestingly, trying to leverage God to his advantage left Balaam with nothing and angered the people he was trying to please (Num. 24:10-11). In what areas do we try to bend the subject of God to our benefit? How does that leave us empty and the world angry? How can we talk about God in a way that is authentic and beneficial to a lost and dying world?
