Psalm 119:9-16 (HCSB)
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word. 10 I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands. 11 I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. 12 Lord, may You be praised; teach me Your statutes. 13 With my lips I proclaim all the judgments from Your mouth. 14 I rejoice in the way revealed by Your decrees as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts and think about Your ways. 16 I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
Georgia Rittenberry
These verses ask us a question, “How can a young person stay on the path of purity?” In today’s time it must be hard. We are bombarded with enticements for sexual relationships and activities that don’t honor God. Most every commercial and television program has either a homosexual relationship or people having a sexual relationship who are not married. The answer to the question above is by reading God’s Word and doing what it says. We can find ways to remove temptations from our lives and seek accountability partners who will encourage us in our daily spiritual walk. We can do so by attending a Connect Group at church and spending time with others who believe as we do. But the most important thing you can do, is have a personal relationship with Jesus. He will never take you down the wrong path.
