A Word from Pastor H.D.
Tis the Season to be Jolly… Fa la la la la! Did you know that this is not just a bunch of silly words but in Renaissance England, they were used to advance a song’s satirical critique of society or as a lyrical surrogate for something that couldn’t be expressed explicitly? At least that is what “the Google” says. This is totally different than… Ooh la la …which is a French phrase to express a strong reaction to something. Apparently just add la la to anything and it makes you sound sophisticated. What does this all have to do with reading our scripture together for November and December? Nothing really but just wanted to make you smile. This season is a wonderful time to be reminded of the blessings we have in this world. We should reflect on how graciously God has enriched our lives with family, friends, and our brothers and sisters in Christ. As we read our scriptures, and discuss each week in our Connect Class and Worship, there is a constant reminder of God’s grace and mercy. He blesses more than we deserve and yet He willingly does that for each one of us. Susan and I are always reminded of how thankful we are to be a part of Temple Baptist Church. As we start our 21st year with this wonderful group of believers, we are amazed that God would use us and that you guys still tolerate us. We hope and pray each of you have a blessed holiday season.
