Questions for the Week
1. Genesis 1:1-2 clearly states that “God” created the heavens and the earth and that the “Spirit of God” was over the waters. In John 1:1-5, it clearly says that Jesus created. How does that demonstrate that Jesus is co-eternal and co-equal with God the Father and God the Spirit? How does God existing before creation demonstrate His power over it? How does creation demonstrate that God is All-Knowing?
2. Basically, in the Genesis creation week, days 1-3 create a form for creation while days 4-6 fill that form. In Gen 1:28, God gives mankind dominion over all other creation. Why? What exactly does it mean to be made in the image of God? How do we see a fuller image of God BECAUSE we have both male and female? Why does God say “very good” only at the end of creation?
3. Genesis 2:1-3 ends the creation week. Rest is built into the design of creation. In fact, mankind’s first full day with God is actually one of rest, not work. Catch this –rest with God comes BEFORE work. Why do we often see rest as something you do IF you are able to complete all your work? Why do we see rest as a reward FOR working hard? What would change if we saw rest with God as absolutely vital to the human experience?
