Questions for the Week

  1. Nicodemus was a Pharisee but his interaction with Jesus in John 3:1-21 was different than many of the other Pharisees. Why do you think that is? Did Nicodemus enter the conversation differently or was his mind changed in the conversation? How is Jesus’ response different? How did Jesus give Nicodemus hope?
  2. John 3:22-30 happens AFTER John baptized Jesus. How does John being called “Rabbi” contrast with Jesus being called the “Christ”? John was an important figure in his day –how does that change your understanding of John 3:30 (“He must increase, I must decrease”)? How often do you find your complaints/aggravations tied to a loss of prestige?
  3. Romans 6:1-14 has a lot to say about how we are united with Jesus –especially in crucifixion to old life and resurrection to new life. Think through your walk with Jesus –how has He changed the sins of your past? How has He changed your desires? In what ways are you “offering yourself to God” (6:13)? How has grace changed you?
