Revelation 22:1-5 (HCSB)
The Source of Life
22 Then he showed me the river of living water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the broad street of the city. The tree of life was on both sides of the river, bearing 12 kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations, 3 and there will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His slaves will serve Him. 4 They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. 5 Night will no longer exist, and people will not need lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.

I recently tried to change what I eat in order to lose some weight. The fitness instructor had a plan and tried to explain that getting healthy starts with what we put in our bodies. Seems simple enough right? Well.....maybe for some. I can't stand drinking water all day and eating things that are green and leafy. But to get the most out of my body, to get healthier and achieve my goal at losing weight, it takes putting things that are pure inside of me. The same can be said for our relationship with God. Water is what makes trees grow and prosper. It is what gives life. And the water that flows from the throne of God is the purest and healthiest of all. It is His word and His love that pours into us. We can eat and drink any number of things to improve our health and our bodies, nothing will truly be as clean and pure as having God in our lives. John's writing paints a beautiful picture of what is in store for us if we accept the gift He has given us. God's plan is not a fad diet, there is no workout plan, it's a gift of eternal salvation. All we have to do is follow His plan.
