QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK

  1. Matthew 7:7-12 is sandwiched between Jesus telling us not to judge others (vss. 1-6) and giving the Golden Rule (vss. 11-14). Why would Jesus put His statement about “asking, seeking, knocking” BETWEEN those verses about how we relate to others? Does that change your ideas of what you should be asking God for and the types of prayers He answers?
  2. Romans 8:26-27 speaks of how the Holy Spirit helps and intercedes for us. AFTER that is when we find out that God works all things (both good and bad) for our good. Does it change your view of suffering to know that the Holy Spirit is interceding for you and that God can take brokenness and make beauty? We often pray to be taken out of hard circumstances but sometimes God leaves us in them and sends the Holy Spirit to intercede. Why?
  3. In Luke18:1-8 we see a picture of justice delayed. Why is just often delayed? By verses 4-5, the     unrighteous judge rules just to be free of the complaints. If an unrighteous judge eventually grants justice to the marginalized, how much more will God do that for those He loves? Where are you waiting for justice? Are you tempted to quick asking God for help?
