Sunday Connect Lesson for March 19, 2023
A Different View of Suffering
Peter likely wrote this letter to Christians scattered throughout Asia Minor around AD 62-63.
Study the Word: Jesus is our example in suffering, in serving others, and in giving glory to God.
Key Truth: Believers view suffering as Christ did (1 Peter 4:1-6). Doing God's will is our highest priority. As Christ suffered for us, we must be willing to suffer for others.
Key Truth: Believers love and serve one another in the midst of suffering (1 Peter 4:7-11). Hospitality and spiritual gifts are meant to build up the church in love and encouragement.
Key Truth: Believers glorify God in the way they handle suffering (1 Peter 4:12-19). If we suffer for doing what is good, we can rejoice that we are like Christ.
Family Connection: Continue the discussion after church!
How can knowing that Jesus experienced suffering while on earth help you when you go through hard times? How can suffering grow our faith?
