QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK
1. Colossians 3:18-4:1 is the result of everything that came before it – Paul teaching a high view of Christ and of Christlikeness. Only then does Paul give specific instruction for home life and work life. Where do you fall short in those areas? Where do you succeed? Why? Do you believe that how you treat others is actually “serving the Lord”? Does that change anything?
2. Wisdom is both knowing what the right action is AND actually doing it. What does walking “in wisdom toward outsiders” (i.e., unbelievers – Col. 4:2-6) look like for you? Where do you lack understanding of how to live out your faith at school/work/etc.? Where do you lack desire to live out your faith there? How can you leverage your time with unbelievers for the Gospel?
3. Paul went on mission trips, planted churches, and impacted innumerable people. He even wrote 2/3 of the NT books – but it’s easy to skip the introductory/closing parts of his letters. Notice this about Colossians 4:7-18 – Paul could only do those things with a team of support around him! Where can you create an opportunity for someone to go out with the Gospel? To be like Tychicus, Onesimus, Aristarchus, Mark, Barnabas, Justus, Epaphras, Luke, Demas, Nympha, Archippus, and the brothers at Laodicea? Or has God called YOU to go like Paul?
