1 Corinthians 6:9-20 (HCSB)
9 Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality, 10 no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Glorifying God in Body and Spirit 12 “Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is helpful. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be brought under the control of anything. 13 “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food,” but God will do away with both of them. The body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 God raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. 15 Don’t you know that your bodies are a part of Christ’s body? So should I take a part of Christ’s body and make it part of a prostitute? Absolutely not! 16 Don’t you know that anyone joined to a prostitute is one body with her? For Scripture says, The two will become one flesh. 17 But anyone joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. 18 Run from sexual immorality! “Every sin a person can commit is outside the body.” On the contrary, the person who is sexually immoral sins against his own body. 19 Don’t you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.

How many of you know people that don’t want to submit to the Lord because they wouldn’t have as much fun? There are usually a few things that everyone knows they would have to “give up” if they came to Christ and sex outside of a marriage between one man and one woman is one of the most common ones. We usually think that after people walk the aisle and say “I do” they become one, but in reality, it is this physical act that the Bible says causes two to become one. If verses 16-17 don’t make that clear enough, then go do some research on how Jewish weddings were conducted and the context will become undeniable. Some of us, I know, have royally messed this up so I would like to direct you to Romans 8:1-2. As for the rest, take heed of what Scripture is telling you and take it seriously. The world has taken sex and twisted it into being whatever you want it to be, but God designed us to operate in a very specific rules and we don’t get to just do whatever we want. It is pretty much like putting water in your gas tank, and then getting mad at Ford for your car breaking down when we try to go against God’s design for His creation, and then get upset when it doesn’t work out like we thought.
