Ephesians 6:1-4 (HCSB)
Children and Parents
6 Children, obey your parents as you would the Lord, because this is right. 2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land. 4 Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

Cliff Bynum
As a child, I remember being told to do something and, sometimes, being told not to do something. If I ever questioned my mother, her reply was usually “because I am the momma and I said so.” Sometimes I feel like God often says, “because I am God and I said so,” when He sees us questioning Him.  At an early age, we must learn how to honor, obey, and love our father and mother. We must teach our children how to do the same. So as an adult, they will understand obedience and compassion for others. If you think about it, many things happened to us as adults that we do not understand. I am sure at some point, you have thought to yourself, that is what my mom or dad meant when they were trying to guide me to understand right from wrong. As parents, we must remember that we are models to our children. When we live our lives by this commandment, our children will be raised in a way that is pleasing to God.  In your daily prayer, pray God will give you the patience and understanding you need to live by this commandment. If you ever feel like you are struggling, remember that God is ALWAYS right beside you. God loves you.

HOW CAN I APPLY IT?
