Ephesians 5:15-21 (HCSB)
Consistency in the Christian Life 15 Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise— 16 making the most of the time, because the days are evil. 17 So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit: 19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music from your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.

I see my wife in these verses. Well, not the “drunk on wine” part if that’s what you were thinking. It’s the Holy Spirit part. Paul says three things happen when you are filled with the Spirit – 1) You speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, 2) you sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, and 3) You ALWAYS give thanks to God the Father for everything! It’s true. Good times or bad times, when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, in all circumstances your heart can sing and be thankful. If you ever heard my wife pray she always starts with “This is the day the Lord has made I WILL REJOICE AND BE GLAD IN IT…..” Oh, if we could all have that attitude!

HOW CAN I APPLY IT?
