Sunday Connect Lesson for August 7, 2022

Saved By Grace
Paul wrote his letter to the Ephesians while under house arrest in Rome around AD 61 or 62.  In this section of the letter, Paul explained the key truth that all people can be saved by grace through faith in Christ, and not by works.

The second chapter of Ephesians is full of before and after snapshots of the significant differences between being "in Christ" or being without Him.

Study the Word: Key Truth: All People Are Spiritually Dead Apart From Christ (Ephesians 2:1-3). Every human being is dead in sin, guilty on two counts. We are dead both in our positional standing, because of Adam's original sin, and in our experiential standing, because of our own sins.

Key Truth: People Are Saved by Grace Through Faith and Are Given Divine Purpose (Ephesians 2:4-10).  Thankfully, God completely and graciously reverses our hopeless condition through Christ.

Key Truth: All Who Trust in Christ Are United as Part of God's Household (Ephesians 2:11-22).
The gospel events (the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ) inaugurated a new covenant in Christ.  All are now placed into one family in the same way - by faith in Jesus Christ.

HOW WILL I PUT THIS INTO PRACTICE THIS WEEK?
