Psalm 103:1-5 (HCSB)
The Forgiving God
Davidic.
1 My soul, praise Yahweh,
and all that is within me, praise His holy name.
2 My soul, praise the Lord,
and do not forget all His benefits.
3 He forgives all your sin;
He heals all your diseases.
4 He redeems your life from the Pit;
He crowns you with faithful love and compassion.
5 He satisfies you with goodness;
your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Julia Burns
David starts out with praise to God and tells us His name is Holy -and there is a specific order to this plea or prayer: 1) First acknowledge who we are speaking to -Holy God, 2) Ask for forgiveness of our sins, 3) then we make requests to God for healing, redemption, and rescue from the “pits” of your life. Corrie Ten Boom once said, “There is no pit which God is not deeper still”. She survived the Nazi Ravensbrook concentration camp during World War II, a pretty deep pit. Lastly, Our Father “crowns us” with His faithful and compassionate love.
