Questions for the Week

1. Public discourse is...interesting today –especially in politics! In Romans 13, there is an important discussion on government. Keep in mind, the governments Paul encountered occasionally had Christians killed in horrific ways –merely because of their faith! With that in mind, how do we act like Christ in a time when we will encounter things in government, online, and in person that we don’t agree with?

2. In Romans 13:8-10, love and law are related (“love is the fulfilling of the law”). How can we practically do this today? Why is it important to make sure that those things remain together? What happens when a law is made without love or when love disobeys the law? How can we, as Christians, work to keep love and government together?

3. The story of the fiery furnace is one that you’ve likely heard a lot over the years. Can you think of a situation that you had to show courage under fire like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had to in Daniel 3:14-18? Nebuchadnezzar’s worship of God after they were saved was short lived. How can we discern when praise and repentance are genuine?
