Acts 10:44-48  (HCSB)
Gentile Conversion and Baptism

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came down on all those who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astounded because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speaking in other languages and declaring the greatness of God. Then Peter responded, 47 “Can anyone withhold water and prevent these people from being baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.

Mark Jenkins
We see an amazing thing in this short passage of verses. The Holy Spirit came down on all those listening to Peter’s message. Peter and those who were with him witnessed this and were amazed. They witnessed these Gentile converts speaking in tongues and declaring the greatness of God....prompt baptism was called for to help these new believers in Christ solidify their faith. These new believers asked Peter to stay a few more days. We are not given more information in chapter 10; however, I am sure these new Christians wanted to learn more, to hear more. No matter how long we have been saved, we should have that burning desire to know more, hear more, learn more and be more engaged in our relationship with our Lord and Savior. I hope the words of Chapter 10 have spoken to you this week and your faith in our Lord and Savior has been renewed and strengthened.
