SUNDAY CONNECT LESSON FOR JULY 2, 2023
ABOVE ALL OTHERS
The writer's declaration of the supremacy of Christ was written between AD 64-68.
Study The Word: The epistle to the Hebrews was written to believers who were suffering and scattered because of persecution. The author does not offer empty "you can do it" cheers to them. Instead, he points them to Jesus and His supreme provisions for believers, then and now.
Key Truth: Jesus is Prophet, Priest, and King above all others (Hebrews 1:1-4). God's complete and final revelation is seen in His Son. He exceeded all of the Old Testament pictures of His work as our definitive spokesman for God, our compassionate High Priest, and our matchless Ruler.
Key Truth: Jesus' suffering completed His work as Savior (Hebrews 2:10-18; 4:14-16). Through His death, Christ became the supreme sacrifice to pay the price for our sins. Because of that, we are invited to draw close to Him, to find strength in His Word, and to find comfort in His presence.
