Hebrews 1:1-14 (HCSB)
The Nature of the Son
1 Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. 2 In these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. 4 So He became higher in rank than the angels, just as the name He inherited is superior to theirs. The Son Superior to Angels 5 For to which of the angels did He ever say, You are My Son; today I have become Your Father, or again, I will be His Father, and He will be My Son? 6 When He again brings His firstborn into the world, He says, And all God’s angels must worship Him. 7 And about the angels He says: He makes His angels winds, and His servants a fiery flame, 8 but to the Son: Your throne, God, is forever and ever, and the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of justice. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; this is why God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy rather than Your companions. 10 And: In the beginning, Lord, You established the earth, and the heavens are the works of Your hands; 11 they will perish, but You remain. They will all wear out like clothing; 12 You will roll them up like a cloak, and they will be changed like a robe. But You are the same, and Your years will never end. 13 Now to which of the angels has He ever said: Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?

This chapter is showing us the radiance of God’s glory. Hebrews is said to have an unknown author but some scholars believe it could have been Paul that wrote this book. God spoke to all of mankind through Jesus by fulfilling His prophecy of Jesus coming to save us from our sins. In the Old Testament, before Jesus walked the earth, God would speak through profits like Elijah, Jeremiah, Daniel, angels, and so on. These beings were considered the most high and closest to God the Father. When Jesus came to fulfill the prophecy that God promised. He was the holiest of Holy and Highest of High. He stood at the right hand of God. It goes on to say in these verses that God used Jesus to speak directly to believers of this era. God tells us, and even the angels, that Jesus is the heir of all things and is an exact representation of God’s majestic being. He sustains all things through His power and continues to sit at the right hand of the Father. He is superior to all the angels, and all should worship Him and His glory. This is truly incredible to me that the people of this era were able to sit in the radiance of God by speaking with and learning the teachings of Jesus. God gave us this sovereign gift and allowed Him to come in human form so that we could walk with and relate to some of the burdens He carried. He was able to touch, heal, speak, and teach to the people that would follow Him. What a blessing that would be now to physically touch and speak with Jesus. Even the angels knew of this blessing and how majestic the Son of God truly is.
