The principles of prayer found in these passages of Scripture apply throughout the Old and New Testaments.
Study the Word: Some people say prayer is the most talked about and least used spiritual discipline. Part of the reason for this could be that we don't understand exactly how prayer works.
Key Truth: God invites us to pray and promises to answer (Matthew 7:7-11). He wants us to spend time with Him, to express our needs and to seek His direction.
Key Truth: The Holy Spirit helps us pray (Romans 8:26-27). The Holy Spirit intercedes for us in ways beyond our own wisdom or abilities.
Key Truth: The Bible gives principles for effective prayer (Matthew 21:22; John 14:13-14; 2 Corinthians 12:7-10; 1 John 3:21-22). Both, instruction about and models of prayer, guide us to effective prayer lives.
Family Connection: Continue the discussion after church! What does it mean to pray? How does the Holy Spirit help us pray? What are some things the Lord's Prayer teaches us about how to pray? Why is prayer important?
