Romans 8:26-27 (HCSB)
26 In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us[a] with unspoken groanings. 27 And He who searches the hearts knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Ah, the Holy Spirit. What a glorious gift! A friend, a guide, an instructor, and even a translator. As we learned yesterday, God knows what we need. Not only does God know, but the Holy Spirit petitions our needs to God. Our needs that we do not even know! The Spirit intercedes “in accordance with the will of God”. What a beautiful intervention! The same God who “searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit”. The same God who knows us infinitely more than we know ourselves is in intimate communication with the Spirit aligning our hearts to God’s will. The Creator and Guide work hand in hand to draw us closer and refine us further into God’s image in ways we cannot even vocalize in prayer. In our weakness and lack of understanding, we are made perfect through the Spirit’s intervention.
