Sunday Connect Lesson for April 9, 2023
From Death To Life
Mark wrote his account of the life of Christ in the AD 50s based on the eyewitness testimony of Peter. The events of these chapters took place in AD 33.
Study The Word: We see the pain. We see the humiliation and injustice. But at the cross of Jesus, if we do not also see the great love of a great Savior, we have missed the point.
Key Truth: Jesus was mocked, beaten, crucified, and buried to make our salvation possible (Mark 15:16-47). With a thorny crown and scornful salutes, the soldiers pretended to give worship to the condemned prisoner. They took Jesus to Mount Calvary, and others joined in their mockery. He was unmistakably dead and removed from life in this world for three days.
Key Truth: Jesus was raised from the dead to guarantee our salvation (Mark 16:1-8). On Sunday, everything changed. The stone was rolled away, the tomb was empty, and Jesus was risen!
Family Connection: Continue the discussion after church!
Why is Christ’s resurrection so important to the Christian faith? How do you think the women felt once they realized Jesus was alive? What excuses or reasons were given for the empty tomb?
