Luke 12:32-34  (HCSB)
32 Don’t be afraid, little flock, because your Father delights to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Make money-bags for yourselves that won’t grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

This passage in Luke is a recollection of Jesus’ teachings, the same Matthew recollects in Matthew 6. Luke 12:31 is Luke’s account of the words Jesus spoke that Matthew recorded in 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.” Luke and Matthew both felt (under the Holy Spirit’s divine guidance) that Jesus’ teaching about money should be included in their accounts of Jesus’ life and teachings. Anytime we find something stated multiple times in the Bible, it is to emphasize its importance. God knows our hearts are drawn to our treasure. So, He tells us in Matthew to focus on storing up treasure in heaven and then again in Luke with different verbage, “make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven....” If you didn’t surrender your worldly wealth to Jesus for His kingdom yesterday, you have another chance today. And if you did make that decision yesterday, recheck your heart today and see if it is already turning back toward your worldly treasures. This is one of those decisions you have to keep making, because we have a tendency to gravitate away from what God wants for us.
