Luke 2:21-24  (HCSB)
The Circumcision and Presentation of Jesus

21 When the eight days were completed for His circumcision, He was named Jesus—the name given by the angel before He was conceived. 22 And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were finished, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord 23 (just as it is written in the law of the Lord: Every firstborn male will be dedicated to the Lord) 24 and to offer a sacrifice (according to what is stated in the law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons).

Mary and Joseph obeyed God's word. Verse 21a –”The 8th day after His birth He was circumcised to show He was set apart to God”; verse 21b – ln naming Jesus; Luke 1:31 Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her to name her son Jesus; verse 22a-24 – ln purifying Mary; verses 22b-23 – ln presenting Jesus. This scripture is showing us that it's not about the power, and high and mighty of Jesus day, but it's about poor, devout folks who were faithful to the Almighty. If we cannot be found faithful in the small things, HOW can we be faithful in the big things?
