Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23  (HCSB)
Entering the Kingdom

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the road is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who go through it.14 How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it.

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’ 23 Then I will announce to them, ‘I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!

I’ll be honest, these verses scare my socks off. Can you imagine hearing, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” Nope Nope NOPE. I’ll be taking the narrow road. I’ll be doing the will of God, thank you very much. To me, this is probably the most important reason to have God-fearing, Jesus loving people around you. We’re all just walking around with logs in our eyes, focused on asking God for puppies we don’t need and risk taking the wrong path. We have to have people in our lives to gently steer (or forcefully drag) us back to the straight and narrow. I thank God for my people that don’t just agree with me and genuinely want real answers to the question “how are you?” If you don’t have someone in your life to hold you accountable, I recommend you start praying for that blessing today.
