2 Corinthians 11:1-6  (HCSB)
Paul and the False Apostles

11 I wish you would put up with a little foolishness from me. Yes, do put up with me. 2 For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy, because I have promised you in marriage to one husband—to present a pure virgin to Christ. 3 But I fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be seduced from a complete and pure devotion to Christ. 4 For if a person comes and preaches another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or you receive a different spirit, which you had not received, or a different gospel, which you had not accepted, you put up with it splendidly! 5 Now I consider myself in no way inferior to the “super-apostles.” 6 Though untrained in public speaking, I am certainly not untrained in knowledge. Indeed, we have always made that clear to you in everything.

Pastor H.D. Jones
Paul’s second letter to the churches in Corinth was more encouraging than the first, but there are still teaching points that he wants to address. Apparently, there were “false teachers” that came in after Paul and attacked his character and authority as an apostle. We see Paul’s sarcasm in verse 5 when he calls them “super-apostles”. Paul was always consistent to point back to Christ and God’s Word as the ultimate authority for everyone’s life. False teaching can be hard to spot because many false teachers today are very charismatic; they have the right look and feel; they are popular and draw large crowds; maybe even sell a lot of books. BUT God is not impressed with anyone that changes the message of His book. As a matter of fact there is a warning within the scriptures... Rev 22:18-19 warns us not to “add to” or “take away” from this book. As you read God’s Word, don’t try and fit what it teaches into your life but allow it to change your life. God is the author and perfecter of our salvation... end of story!
