2 Corinthians 11:7-11 (HCSB)
7 Or did I commit a sin by humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge? 8 I robbed other churches by taking pay from them to minister to you. 9 When I was present with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my needs. I have kept myself, and will keep myself, from burdening you in any way. 10 As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting of mine will not be stopped in the regions of Achaia. 11 Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows I do!

Pastor H.D. Jones
Being a pastor is a weird job... I’m not kidding. The Bible tells us that a good under shepherd is worth a double portion and yet most churches (not Temple, of course) want to pay as little as possible and require as much as possible of its staff. A minister is an employee but not really because the IRS says we are “independent contractors” and are required to pay our entire “fica / medicare”. Every one of your staff does a great job and are paid well according to most statistics. We research to make sure that we are paying them appropriately. BUT, make no mistake, they are not doing this job for the money. Each one of them does their job because they love Jesus and love Temple. Make sure you at least smile at them or hug their neck.
