Philippians 4:10-14 (HCSB)
Appreciation of Support

10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that once again you renewed your care for me. You were, in fact, concerned about me but lacked the opportunity to show it. 11 I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content—whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. 13 I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me. 14 Still, you did well by sharing with me in my hardship.

Contentment – a word and concept our culture struggles with now more than ever. Have you ever wished for something, got it, and realized it isn’t what you dreamed of? Life is full of disappointments –with material things, jobs, family, friends, etc…It is natural to believe that our circumstances dictate how content we are. But our circumstances will never satisfy us, and most times will let us down. Paul had learned how to be content no matter his circumstances. He faced more trials and hardships in his life than we will ever know. However, he had learned to be content with each situation he faced and used it to the glory of God. Paul believed that he could face all situations and find contentment through the power of Jesus Christ.
