Philippians 1:27-30 (HCSB)
27 Just one thing: Live your life  in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm  in one  spirit, with one mind,  working side by side for the faith  that comes from the gospel, 28 not being frightened in any way by your opponents.  This is a sign of destruction for them,  but of your deliverance —and this is from God. 29 For it has been given to you on Christ’s behalf not only to believe  in Him, but also to suffer for Him, 30 having the same struggle that you saw I had and now hear that I have.

Parenting 101: When you drop off your child at a location where they are out of your control, you always tell them to mind their manners. True? If I had a dollar for every time I said “Boy, you better mind your manners,” I doubt I would be rich, but could buy a couple nice meals. Parents always want their children to be on their best behavior. One could think that how your children acts when you aren’t around you, reflects directly on their upbringing. I can’t say that is exactly what Paul is saying, but there is a similar encouragement to the Philippians. Living a life worthy of the Gospel reflects one’s beliefs. Moral living was encouraged, whether Paul is in town or away. Paul continued by encouraging his audience to stand strong in opposition. Even more, stand stronger together. Unity among believers is an important element to the church. Bottom line, folks are watching. Be full of the Spirit, stand firm against opposition, and do it together for God’s glory.
